CSE Citation Style

This guide provides basic instruction about the CSE (Council of Science Educators) Citation Style.

Author

An author is the person, committee, organization, or other group who created the work. Write the author's last name followed by a space and the initial of the first and middle name.

If there is no author, do not write "anonymous" as the author. Instead, exclude that information and write in the first few words of the title, followed by ellipses. List authors in the order they appear in the original work for up to 5 authors. If there are more than five authors, include only the first author and follow it by "et al."

Examples are provided below. Please see the CSE Manual for more detailed information on how to cite authors.
