CRAAP was created in 2004 by Sarah Blakeslee, a librarian at California State University, Chico. It was born out of a need to have a memorable acronym for students so they could remember the checklist  criteria she thought was important for determining if a resource is worthwhile or not so she came up with CRAAP.  (This method is also called Reading Vertically)
