eBooks On EBSCOhost

You can find EBSCOhost ebooks in one of two ways.

  • 1. Use the Library Catalog
  • 2.  Go to the EBooks On EBSCOhost link

To search for EBooks on EBSCOhost by using the The Library Catalog, you can refer to the Finding ebooks in the catalog tab.

Here we will look at going to show how to access EBSCOhost ebooks by going to the EBooks on EBSCOhost link

 

  • 3. Now click on  Online Resources A to Z.  You can search for Online Resources A to Z by selecting the letter of the alphabet that corresponds to the first letter of the name that you are searching for.  Since we are searching for EBooks on EBSCOhost, we need to select the letter E.  
  • 4. Now select the letter E, as is shown below

  • 5.  The Online Resources that begin with the letter E displays, as is shown below:

  • 6. Now click on EBooks on EBSCOhost link, which is the sixth one on the list.

7. If you are off the Texas Wesleyan campus, then you will be taken to the Microsoft Office sign in box, as is shown below.

  • Type in your Texas Wesleyan email address in the sign in box, or it may show with your email already there as is shown below.
     
  • Now type in your Texas Wesleyan password that you have created for logging into Microsoft Office, which is usually your RAMLINK password in the Enter Password Box, as is shown below.

 

8.  Once signed in, the EBSCO eBooks main page displays, as is shown below

9.  Now you can perform a search, like as is shown below

10.  Press the Search button, and the results display, as is shown below:

 

11. To access an eBook, first you must choose one from the list of results.  If, for example, you wanted to access record number one, click on the title of the book in the brief record, as is shown below

 

You can now do the following:

  • You can read the entire eBook online without checking it out.
  • You can select and Save selected pages from the book
  • You can select and E-mail selected pages from the book
  • You can select and Print out selected pages of the book

You don't have to check out (download) the eBook to be able to save, e-mail or print out pages of the book

 

When you click on either save. email or print, you will next see one of the boxes below

For this book, the number of available pages to save, email or print is 60 pages. Different books have a different number of available pages.

What are the advantages of checking out (Downloading) e-books?

  • Can download the book to your computer (as long as it is checked out)
  • Can bookmark pages
  • Can highlight words, sentences, paragraphs
  • Can make the pages larger or smaller
  • Can search for all the instances of a term throughout the book

How do I check out e-books?

1. To check out e-books you must first create an account in EBSCOhost.

2. To create an account in EBSCOhost, you must first click on Go to eBook in the record of the book that you which to check out

3. Find and click on Image of the "sign in" button on the website at the upper right on the page.

4. You will be taken to the EBSCOhost sign in page, as is shown below:


5. In the image above, below Welcome Back there appears Don't have an account? Sign Up. Click on the words Sign Up to create your account.

6. The create your account form appears, as is shown below:

 

 

1. If you want to check out the book, click on the  button

2. The following box will appear:    

3. Sign in to EBSCOhost using the username and password that you just created

4. The following window will display

 

 

5. In this box, you need to indicate how many days you wish to borrow (check-out) the book.  The default for this book is has a maximum of 60 days, but you can check it out for any number of days up to 60.

6. Now before you can move on, you need to install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer. Click on the link for Adobe Digital Editions in the box and a new window will open where you can install this software on your computer.

7. Once you have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer, you can check the box on the window above and the eBook will download.  You will see a new box like the one below:

Note: In order to download eBooks, you must have Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher installed on your computer. This is a free download available at http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/download.html.
