LibGuides Best Practices: The Home Page

LibGuide Homepage

There are two types of homepages in LibGuides

1. The page where the public accesses your LibGuides.  This is your site homepage

2. Each individual LibGuide has a tab called Home, which can be considered a guide specific home page.

What to do with your guide homepage

The Homepage area allows you to:

  • Customize your default homepage
    • Default view of list of all guides or list of subjects OR define a custom URL for your homepage (e.g., the URL for a custom guide to use as your homepage); Homepage templates can be used to:
      • Define how many columns appear in these lists
      • Define which options display (All Guides, By Subject, By Type, etc.)
    • Which boxes appear in the right hand column, including custom boxes;
    • Define your welcome message & introductory text (appears at top of homepage);
    • Which profiles are featured in the profiles box (if displaying).
