According to the American Library Association, Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools.

Join West Library in celebrating National Library Week starting April 8 - 11, 2019. National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. This year’s theme, Libraries = Strong Communities, illustrates how today’s libraries are at the heart of our cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical resources, programs and expertise.
The Eunice and James L. West library hosts a Mitchell-Reed Community of Learners lecture featuring Dr. Kendra Weddle at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 in the Library Orientation room. Dr. Weddle will present “Building Bridges: Letha Dawson Scanzoni and Friends.”
Did you know that gaming can be a great way to socialize, improve multi-tasking skills, enhance memory, and learn new things? West Library joins thousands in celebrating the popularity and power of games and play! International Games Day is from noon - 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6 on the first floor of West Library.
Join us at the library for an afternoon of fun and games! Tabletop games of all kinds will be featured. Do you have a game that you never have enough people to play with? Bring it with you! Sit down, have a snack, and join in some hilarity!
On October 25th, from 11:30-1:30 ,The Eunice and James L. West Library will celebrate its 30th birthday. The celebration, which marks the 30th anniversary of the library’s formal opening and Dedication on October 21, 1988, will take place on the 1st floor of the library just inside the front doors. Cake will be served, while supplies last!
The Eunice and James L. West Library is named in honor of the late Eunice and James L. West of Fort Worth. It is only the second building constructed by Texas Wesleyan specifically for library services.
